The Aichi Prefectural Government is currently taking applications for the Aichi Scholarship Program. Utilizing scholarship money provided by the prefectural government, students from Asia will travel to Aichi and enroll in graduate school to study the specialized fields and related subjects that support Aichi’s manufacturing industry. After completing their courses of study, these students will then be expected to seek employment within Aichi.
*Those who are already in Japan cannot apply for this scholarship.
*Those student who wish to apply for this scholarship need to contact and discuss with the supervisor of Toyohashi University of Technology before applying.
2.Terms and Conditions
Applicants must hold citizenship of, and currently reside in, one of the following Asian counties: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, East Timor, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam
Applicants must be under 35 years of age as of April 1, 2013, i.e. born on or after April 2,1987.
Applicants must have bachelor’s degree or equivalent thereof.
d)Field of Study:
Applicants must study a subject recognized as pertinent to the support of Aichi’s manufacturing industry.
Applicants must be healthy, both mentally and physically.
f)Japanese Language Ability:
Applicants must have a fairly good command of the Japanese language to study and seek employment in Aichi, or have the prospect obtaining sufficient language ability.
*Mater’s subjects for Aichi scholarship student are mostly given in Japanese. Aichi scholarship student must study Japanese language during the first half year of Research Student Period.
Applicants must have the intention to seek employment at a company that has its headquarters or branch office located within Aichi (whether or not work placement should fall in Japan.)
During their course of the study, applicants must participate in an intership program offered by companies introduced by the Aichi Prefectural Government.
Applicants must not be receiving scholarships or grants from any other organization, including the Japanese government of their home country. Also, spouses of students currently receiving scholarship money from the Aichi Prefectural Government are not eligible to apply.
j)Date of Arrival:
Applications must be able to come to Japan in October 2013 on a day to be designated by the Governor.
Applicants must be admitted as a research student at a graduate school within Aichi from the period of October 2013 to March 2014. After arriving in Japan, applicants must enroll in the national health insurance system.

4.Number of Students
10 scholarship recipients for 2013 for all Aichi Prefecture
1.Living allowance:150,000 yen per month
2.Travel expenses to Japan – A predetermined amount of money, decided by the Governor, will be provided to each applicant to allow travel from their nearest international airport to Central Japan International Airport (economy class). *Travel expenses from Japan – As a general rule, return airfare will not be provided.
3.School Expenses:Entrance examination fees, entrance fees and tuition for both research and graduate study. 4.Period of Scholarship: 2 years and 6 months beginning October 2013 and ending March 2016.
* If an applicant cannot pass the master’s course entrance examinationa before March 2014, the scholarship will be terminated at the end of that month.
*You must discuss with your supervisor at Toyohashi University of Technology before applying.

Applicants must apply through the graduate school located in Aichi Prefecture.
Selection Committee of Toyohashi University of Technology selects recommenders of Aichi Scholarship.
And then, the governor selects the scholarship recipients from among applicants recommended by the Aichi Scholarship Program Selection Committee. The selection results will be announced to the recommending universities by the end of July 2013.
And for the applicants from Toyohashi University of Technology;
1. You must find your academic supervisor by your self.
2.Download necessary forms from this page, and prepare all application documents.
3.Prepare the translation for necessary parts.(You can prepare it by yourself, or ask your supervisor.)
4.Submit to International Affairs Division of Toyohashi University of Technology by Tuesday, 7th May 2013.
