 Invitation to attend the Connected Communities Research Development Workshop. The alumni of this workshop  will can apply for ring-fenced funding for follow-up projects of up to £100,000.


All eligible applicants are invited to submit applicationsfor research development workshop which is being organized by AHRC as a part of the cross-Council Connected Communities Programme. This workshop is organized at Edinburgh Conference Centre at Heriot WattUniversity on 2 July 2013. The goal of this program is tosupport the development of ideas for research projects to explore and enhance the sustainability of outcomes from, and legacy of, research under the Connected Communities Programme and to provide new insights on the potential broader cultural, economic and societal value of research under the Programme.

Attendees at the workshop will have an opportunity toapply for ring-fenced funding for follow-up projects of up to £100,000 to support inter-disciplinary collaborative grantscombining arts and humanities expertise with other research disciplines and community, policy and practice partners, to take forward the most innovative research ideas that emerge during the workshop that would contribute to the aims outlined in website.


  • Researchers and project partners supported under the Connected Communities Programme who are interested in working with others to explore the sustainability, legacy and value of past or current projects
  • Researchers from a wide range of disciplines who are not currently involved in the Connected Communities Programme with expertise relevant to the themes of this workshop (legacy, cultural value, evaluation, impact etc.) interested in working with Connected Communities projects to explore these issues
  • Individuals from outside the higher education sector (e.g. from community, voluntary or policy organisations or from the heritage and creative arts sectors) with experience or expertise in exploring issues such as legacy, cultural value, evaluation, impact etc. and/or who could contribute to other relevant aspects such as the inclusion of community perspectives, voices and interests in post-project assessment processes research community and stakeholder partners.


The deadline for applications to attend the workshop is 1600hrs Friday 7th June 2013. Applications should be submitted electronically as an e-mail attachment (please quote ‘EOI Research Development Day’ in the subject line). Please note that late submissions will not be considered.
