Freshwater Ecosystems in Urban Systems – ecotoxicology, ecology and biology

The 2nd summer school addresses the impact of different water and waste water management strategies on urban freshwater ecosystems in order to maintain a maximum of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Freshwater ecosystems and their adjacent areas often provide the only space for maintaining a certain level of biodiversity in cities. In addition to general pressures such as eutrophication, pollution, modification of hydromorphology and climate change several stress factors are specific to urban areas, e.g. intense use for recreational purposes or stormwater releases with the introduction of numerous urban pollutants.
